Research Scientist—Membranes

We are looking for a research scientist with an interest in chemical engineering to be a member of our R&D team developing membrane technologies in Bettergy’s membrane separation unit. The successful candidate will work on the development of a zeolite membrane/membrane reactor for gas/liquid separation/reaction. The candidate will also carry out practical work in other promising project areas. The position will involve:

  • Conducting ongoing membrane separation projects
  • Running lab experiments, analyzing data and making recommendations
  • Investigating novel materials and processes 
  • Designing or modifying test equipment to carry out lab evaluations
  • Assessing possible opportunities (e.g. gas separations, pervaporation) and writing technical reports and proposals 

Requirements:

  • Entry level research scientist with PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, or a related field.
  • Understanding of membrane and other separation technologies practiced at the laboratory and commercial scale. 
  • Experience with inorganic materials synthesis techniques and methods, particularly for inorganic membranes.
  • Experience in zeolite membrane preparation, characterization, and evaluation (high temperature up to 500oC) is a plus. Experience in GC operation and data interpretation is desirable but not required.
  • Capable of doing R&D projects independently and as a member of a research team.  
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
